About Our Church
Our Pastor
Dan has served as Senior Pastor since 2009. He leads our congregation and staff to be outwardly focused and growth minded. As Senior Pastor, Dan is the primary communicator on Sunday mornings and casts overall vision for the church. Dan has served churches in Mississippi, Kentucky, and Louisiana before coming to DeLand. He earned a Doctor of Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Mississippi State University (Go Bulldogs!!). Dan and his wife, Nicki, have two boys, Jonah and Micah.
Our Vision
Stetson Baptist Church is “A Place Where God’s Love is Alive.” That means we give glory to God as He leads us to love each other and love the world around us. Being part of Stetson Baptist means that you’re part of a church family that cares for and supports each other in the daily struggles (and joys) of life.
Our Vision is to be a Multi-Generational and Multi-Cultural family of Christ followers that reach up to the Savior, reach down to the lost, reach in to the truth, and reach out to a friend. We accomplish that vision by challenging each member of Stetson Baptist Church to do three things: Worship, Grow, and Serve. We encourage members to do these three things in two ways: daily in their personal lives and weekly within the church.
Our History
Stetson Baptist Church, located in DeLand, Florida, has a rich history rooted in community service and spiritual growth. The church was established in 1926 as a mission of First Baptist Church of DeLand. Named after the Stetson family, prominent local benefactors and founders of nearby Stetson University, the church quickly became a vital part of the DeLand community.
From its inception, Stetson Baptist Church focused on outreach and meeting the needs of its members and the broader community. Over the decades, it expanded its facilities and programs, emphasizing family ministries, youth activities, and missions. The church adopted innovative approaches to worship and community involvement, including hosting large-scale outreach events and engaging in global missions.
Today, Stetson Baptist Church continues its mission of sharing the gospel and serving others. It is recognized for its welcoming atmosphere, dynamic worship, and commitment to making a difference in the local and global community.
